Automotive Aesthetic, a startup company owned by a student of University of Virginia, is opening up shop in McIntire Plaza. Daniel Wendell, soon to be University of Virginia Alumni, has had a dream for over ten years of creating his own bespoke detailing company. Automotive Aesthetic turns something that may seem remedial and tedious into a form of art. One of the car cleaning products a “car shampoo” is super easy to use and leaves your car looking fresh and new again.
Wendell began developing his automotive detailing skills at a very young age. “It all started when the Xbox 360 came out and my parents told me I would have to fund the new console with my own money,” Wendell notes. By high school, he had even created an online store where he sold imported car care products from England. After many years of mastering the art of fine car detailing, Wendell excels in working on a wide array of cars – anything from lower-end cars like Toyotas and Hondas to luxury vehicles like Ferraris and Porsches.
Realizing that it takes a lot of time, maturity, and capital to create the venture he imagined, Wendell decided to follow the status quo and attend college. Wendell studies Government at the University of Virginia, but has decided to embark on his own journey instead of the government and consulting jobs that await his peers. “I learned enough about the Government that I didn’t want to be involved with it,” Daniel loves to say.
Some may ask, “What does Automotive Aesthetic do that the car wash down the street doesn’t?” In short Automotive Aesthetic permanently fixes the damage the car wash and detailer down the street inflict on clients’ vehicles. The company specializes in the systematic and scientific art of rejuvenation for all vehicular surfaces. The passion for automobiles is what drives the quality of work from Automotive Aesthetic. “I view a car as an extension of one’s body, not just a means of transportation,” Wendell explains. “Many of our clients desire a clean car for their own enjoyment and to maintain the resale value, however, our company is founded for the ‘car guys and gals’- the passionate men and women among us who look back at their vehicle after they park in the very back of the grocery store parking lot.
